SPECIAL EVENTS:
Each Saturday from 5pm-7pm throughout the holiday season, we'll be serving hot chocolate in Floral Hall (the shelter house in the campground at the end of the route) thanks to our local community businesses and organizations volunteering their time.
A few of these Saturdays (and one special Thursday evening) will include fun, festive activities for you and your family to enjoy! Please see those details below...
- Saturday, November 21st — OPENING NIGHT! Christmas Ornament Making + Holiday Music by Dave Beck (Hosted by FreedomBank)
- Saturday, November 28th — Shop Small Saturday, visit downtown Elkader prior to going through the lights! There will be no added special event this evening due to the Elkader Area Chamber's events that day, but we WILL still be serving hot chocolate in Floral Hall from 5pm-7pm so stop by and warm up with us! (Hosted by Mobile Track Solutions)
- Thursday, December 10th — Central Madrigal Choir
- Saturday, December 5th — Cookie Decorating + Ugly Sweater Run (5pm start), cookies sponsored by Pedretti's Bakery. (Hosted by Alpine Communications)
- Saturday, December 12th — Visit Santa + Sleigh Rides
- Saturday, December 19th — Pajama Night w/ Glow Sticks + Holiday Movie Ticket (good for special Sunday holiday show on 12/20 at noon)

*You can reserve up to THREE (3) spaces.
Reservation Details:
Each reservation comes with:
- A timer for the lights (one per reservation)
- A sign with your name (matching all of the reserved spaces)
With a reserved spot, you are responsible for:
- Set up, maintenance, and take down of displays
- Any liability that your displays would cause in the event of an accident
- We highly recommend putting your displays on pallets for easier set-up and take-down.
- For energy efficiency LED lights are required.
- Please mark your extension cords as we are not responsible for lost items.
- No blow-up decorations will be allowed due to weather.

History of Elkader Holiday Light Show
The Elkader Holiday Light Show was started in the fall of 2024 in a joint, community effort by the City of Elkader, Elkader Chamber of Commerce, and Main Street Elkader organizations. The show is run by a committee of volunteers. In it's second year, the event doubled in size with over 40 displays in 2025! Help us make 2026 a successful event for our community.
